This module is designed to give you an overview of the installation guidelines that must be followed to meet specific Code requirements.
This module is based on key references in these editions of the codes: NFPA 70 (2008), NFPA 72 (2007), and the IBC (2006).
After completing this module, you should be able to do the following:
Understand the mandates set by Codes and Standards when installing an automatic fire protection system.
Read key architectural plans to identify types and location of system components.
Identify symbols used to designate fire alarm system detectors and components.
Follow installation requirements for initiating devices, smoke detectors, and raceways.
