In this module, we will be looking at how IP-based video surveillance takes advantage of networking capabilities to expand the functionality and effectiveness of a video security system.
Specifically, we'll look at network structure and configuration, wireless networking, and some of the hardware devices and software applications that drive IP-based video surveillance installations.
After completing this module, you should be able to:
Explain the basic operation of a computer network and understand key terms associated with networking and integration.
Describe basic networking structures, configurations and protocols.
Discuss how network components are integrated to produce a converged video security system.
Understand the advantages of using network-based video cameras, controllers and storage devices.
