This module on Fire Alarm Wiring Methods takes a look at the Code requirements and installation methods needed to install effective and efficient Fire Alarm Systems.

We'll take a look at the basic requirements for installing Fire Alarm System circuits, including the importance of following the rules of wiring, the types of cable used, and the tools you will need to complete the job.

This module also covers specific rules on the installation of wiring in conduit and other types of raceways.

After completing this module, you should be able to do the following:
  • Reference Article 760 of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Identify the wiring requirements and the protection needed for the wiring of an Automatic Fire Alarm System.
  • Calculate proper wire size and overcurrent protection for a Fire Alarm System.
  • Understand installation requirements when installing wiring in raceways.
